After the two were involved in a crash in Weatherford, a woman died, and a man was arrested for felony evading arrest early Wednesday morning, December 22.
The accident happened around 1:30 a.m. in the 2400 block of Ft Worth Highway, according to police.
Officers arrived on the scene to find a 36-year-old woman receiving first aid from an off-duty police officer.
A 21-year-old man on the scene flagged down the off-duty officer and informed him that the woman had been injured in an accident, according to Weatherford Police.
The woman was pronounced dead as a result of her injuries.
The man fled the scene in his Dodge Challenger while officers were investigating, leading officers from Weatherford Police and deputies from the Parker County Sheriff’s Department on a chase.
The pursuit continued to the courthouse square, where the car collided with a stone wall in the northwest corner.
The driver then exited the vehicle and fled.
Around 5:00 a.m., police discovered him not far from the area and arrested him for felony evading with a vehicle.
The man was taken to the hospital with visible injuries.
He was later released, and investigators questioned him about his involvement in the fatal accident.
