An unidentified 63-year-old man was critically injured after being struck by a car in San Antonio on Thursday night, December 30, 2021.
According to preliminary reports, the pedestrian accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the 6500 block of Prue Road, not far from Babcock Road.
Officials said the pedestrian was attempting to cross Prue Road in a crosswalk when a Toyota Corolla struck him.
The car was stopped at a red light on Babcock Road, waiting to turn left. After receiving a green protected arrow, the driver made the turn. He struck the man because he couldn’t see him. Paramedics rushed the victim to University Hospital in critical condition when they arrived.
At the time of the collision, the driver was not intoxicated.
They came to a halt and remained on the scene to assist the man. The officers observed the light signals, and a no-crossing signal was displayed on the crosswalk with a protected green arrow.
