A 22-year-old woman identified as Allyson G. was killed while Rafael A. was injured after a major head-on collision on U.S. 69 on Saturday morning, September 11.
The fatal collision transpired at approximately 2:50 a.m. on U.S. 69, two miles north of Jacksonville. A northbound 2004 Ford Expedition traveled on the highway while a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado pickup was heading southbound.
For unclear reasons, the Expedition veered into the northbound lanes and collided head-on with the oncoming 2019 Chevrolet Silverado. The Expedition then came to a stop in the northbound lanes after the crash, while the Silverado stopped in the outside of the southbound lanes.
The Silverado driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the Expedition driver sustained serious injuries and was rushed to U.T. Health Hospital in Tyler. Additional information about the accident is unavailable at the moment. Local authorities are further investigating the case.
