DUI Pedestrian Accident Statistics
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, 812 people were killed in DUI crashes in the state of Texas in 2019. It is clear that drinking and driving is an inconvenience. Intoxicated drivers run the risk of causing serious injury or death to other people. Even if no one is injured in the collision or if you are arrested for DUI, your family and job may suffer.
The suspect bears full responsibility for the accident because the driver was impaired by alcohol or drugs at the time of the collision. Driving while impaired by drugs or alcohol is one of the most reckless and dangerous things a driver can do.
Drunk drivers endanger both themselves and others. Texas and the United States have made significant progress in the fight against drunk driving, but much more work remains to be done to significantly reduce the number of DUI-related deaths across the country. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that approximately 10,000 people are killed each year as a result of drunk drivers.
