One person was killed while several injuries were reported after a police chase ends in a major car crash at Great Trinity Forest Way on Wednesday morning, August 25.
The fatal crash happened at around midnight in the 1000 block of South Buckner Boulevard. Police received a report of a carjacking incident from a nursing home the previous day. As the police attempted to apprehend the stolen Toyota Camry, the Camry driver did not stop and sped off.
The Camry driver reportedly ran a red light at the intersection and crashed into a Chevrolet Impala. The driver of the Chevrolet Impala sustained fatal injuries from the crash. The Chevy driver was rushed to an area hospital but later died from his injuries.
Two other passengers inside the Chevrolet Impala sustained unspecified injuries in the crash. They were both taken to a hospital for treatment. Authorities later discovered that a 14-year-old drove the stolen Toyota Camry.
Police learned that the car was stolen on Monday during an aggravated robbery. The teen and the other occupants inside the stolen Toyota Camry are currently in custody and will most likely face charges related to the accident and more. The case is under further investigation.
