Deadly Multi-Vehicle Crash Statistics
Six million traffic accidents take place in the United States every year. Around 33,244 people died in motor vehicle crashes in 2019 alone. Multiple vehicles were involved in some of these collisions. If three or more vehicles were involved in an accident, it’s considered a multi-vehicle collision or a pile-up. These accidents occur on high-capacity or high-speed roads such as freeways. These crashes are often deadly and catastrophic.
According to 2008 NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) figures, 40% of the 25,351 passenger car occupant fatalities in the United States in 2008 were in multi-vehicle crashes. When numerous defendants and multiple parties are involved, each person has the opportunity to pass the blame onto someone else. Playing the blame game can leave victims confused, especially if they don’t have an attorney with them. By hiring an experienced attorney following a multi-car collision, you can protect your legal rights better.
