A 19-year-old conductor identified as Matthew P. was killed in an accident in East Harris on Friday, October 29, 2021.
The fatal accident occurred around 5:45 a.m. near 1755 Terminal Road, off Federal Road and south of Interstate 10, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzales. Gonzales stated that the victim was standing at the rear of the train as it backed out of a private rail yard.
The police believe the victim was trying to guide the train’s engineer as it reversed when an 18-wheeler simultaneously crossed the tracks, pinning the victim against the truck. Pfister was pronounced dead at the scene.
