The two separate fatal car accidents happened on Monday at the Gulf Freeway, October 4.
A man was caught sprinting south in the northbound lanes around 2:20 a.m. on the Gulf Freeway. According to witnesses, the man was crushed by two vehicles and left for dead on the spot. Another accident occurred around 8:15 p.m Sunday, October 3.
A pickup truck driver came to a halt after observing a woman walking eastbound across the freeway. The incident set off a chain reaction behind him culminating in a collision involving four automobiles.
The woman was hit by an unknown car after the initial collision leaving her in a critical condition. Police reports the driver of the vehicle that hit the woman fled the scene. The accident is still under investigation.
No one would have been charged in that case if all vehicles had stayed at the scene, according to detectives, since pedestrians do not have the right of way on the freeway.
