A 36-year-old man identified as Matthew Alan W. was killed after a deadly head-on collision in Kirbyville on Monday evening, August 23.
The fatal collision transpired at around midnight on Highway 96, just north of the intersection of Farm to Market Road 2245, commonly known as Roganville Road. A 2018 Toyota Yaris driven by Wheeler and a 2018 Freightliner truck and trailer were involved in the crash. The two vehicles collided head-on.
The Toyota Yaris was reportedly driving in the wrong lanes for unclear reasons. Meanwhile, the two occupants inside the 18-wheeler were injured from the mishap. The driver of the semi-truck was identified as Jesus A. He remained at the scene and was cooperative with the authorities.
The semi-truck was reportedly hauling for Papa John’s Pizza when the collision occurred. The 2018 Toyota Yaris driver was fatally injured in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident is under further investigation.
