[08-05-2021] Jasper County, TX – Longtime Jasper Resident Killed After a Fatal Rear-End Tractor-Trailer Crash

A 62-year-old woman identified as Louise C. was killed after a fatal rear-end crash involving a tractor-trailer on Highways 190 and 63 West on Thursday afternoon, August 5.

According to the initial reports from local authorities, the accident transpired at around 1:00 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 190 and 63 West. A 2018 Chevrolet Suburban driven by the woman reportedly rear-ended a tractor-trailer that was being pulled by a 2015 Peterbilt semi-rig.

It was unclear what caused the woman to rear-ended the tractor-trailer. The crash took place in front of Lowe’s Home Improvement Center. The Chevrolet driver was killed in the mishap. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the semi-truck was rushed to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The semi-truck driver was later identified as Samuel Joe Johnson. It’s unclear whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. The accident is currently under further investigation.
