[10-26-2021] Rockwall County, TX – Tragic Multi-Vehicle Crash Takes Life of Truck and Cab Driver in Royse City

A truck driver was killed in a crash in the westbound lanes of Interstate 30 on Tuesday morning, October 26.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m. on Interstate 30 near the exits to Circle Drive and Erby Campbell Boulevard.

According to the Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management, the westbound lanes were closed early Tuesday afternoon and were reopened around 4:00 p.m.

The Texas Department of Transportation traffic cameras showed movement along I-30 slowed down, and a semi-truck driver rear-ended another semi-truck, effectively crashing into a car.

The driver’s cab was severely damaged due to the crash, resulting also in the death of the said driver, police said. The driver who was rear-ended was fortunately uninjured, but his trailer had its back axle destroyed.

The passengers of the car that was rear-ended were rushed to a hospital. Further details about their condition have yet to be disclosed. Local authorities are still investigating the crash.
