Two unidentified people became tragic victims of another collision that happened on Monday, October 25.
Paramedics, together with ATCEMS, quickly rushed to where the deadly crash transpired at approximately 8:30 p.m. Austin firefighters helped put out the flame engulfing the SUV, which the police found shortly after arriving.
According to the ATCEMS, the two people found inside the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene, and details about the two victims have yet to be disclosed. ATCEMS stated that the SUV crashed with a semi-truck. The driver of the truck cooperated and stayed at the scene, and was treated by EMS for injuries.
The Texas Department of Transportation reported that all southbound lanes of I-35 after exit 238B were closed and reopened only at 4:43 a.m on Tuesday. The APD Vehicular Homicide Unit is still investigating the cause of the crash.

Vehicle fires caused 4.5 times the number of deaths as nonresidential structure fires and 1.6 times the number of apartment fire deaths. Highway vehicle fires were 60 percent less common in 2018 than they were in 1980, with rates of fires per billion miles driven and fire deaths per 100 billion miles driven falling by 81 percent and 65 percent, respectively.
In the years 2013–2017, four out of every five people killed or injured in highway vehicle fires were men. Almost half (44%) of those killed in vehicle fires were aged 15 to 34. Only ten percent were over the age of 65. Highway vehicle fires were most common between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
