[08-29-2021] Houston County, TX – Motorcyclist Killed After a Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in I-10 Overpass

One unidentified motorcyclist was killed after getting struck by a hit-and-run driver along Interstate 10 on Sunday night, August 29.

According to the initial reports from local authorities, the accident happened on Interstate 10 near U.S. 90. A white Malibu rear-ended the motorcyclist near the U.S. 90. Due to the severity of the impact, the motorcyclist was thrown off the I-10 overpass and dropped 25 feet off his back and onto the service road below.

The motorcycle rider sustained life-threatening injuries from the mishap and was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene. The Malibu driver exited his vehicle and tried to escape into the nearby woods. Authorities later apprehended him on the other side of the woods.

The hit-and-run driver was then charged with intoxication manslaughter and failure to stop and render aid. The identities of the involved parties have not been disclosed. The case is currently under further investigation.
